Sad Boulders

The smaller partner to the Happy Boulders, the Sads are typically less crowded but in a smaller wash with some bumpier landings and tighter quarters. Still awesome climbing and worth a visit if you've got the time. There are two options for parking. The first is to turn onto Chalk Bluff Road from Jean Blanc Road and drive ~1.4 miles to a pullout on the left at the south end of the canyon, then take a well laid trail uphill into the area. This is the tougher approach for most of the boulders but is easier on your car. The second is to park north of the canyon by continuing straight past Chalk Bluff Road onto Casa Diablo Road. Stay on Casa Diablo for 1.9 miles then take a left onto an unnamed dirt road. Stay left at a fork after 0.3 miles and then park in the small lot 0.6 miles after that. This way offers an easier and flatter approach to most of the boulders but is a rougher road.
