Index

Index is one of Washington's top areas! It is known best for its trad climbing, but has lots of great sport climbing and bouldering as well. Its trad climbing in particular has a rich history stretching back to the 80s and many classic hard climbs of the time can be found in Index. Sport climbing took off a bit later in the 90s and has also made its place on the high walls outside of the town of Index. The Index Town Walls are a great spot in the summer when conditions are too hot in other locations - the deep tree cover shields many of the climbs here.
